Beef In Black Bean Sauce

  • On green chopping board peel and finely slice onion. Peel and crush garlic.
  • Wash, deseed and finely slice peppers.
  • Wash and finely slice scallions.
  • On red chopping board remove visible fat from rump steak and slice thinly. Wash hands after handling raw meat. 
  • Cook rice as per instructions on packet.
  • Place cornflour in a mixing bowl, add black pepper and rump steak. Toss well.
  • Heat 2tbsp oil in a wok or pan until hot, add beef and cook until brown. 
  • Remove beef to plate.
  • Reserve meat juices from the wok/pan. 
  • Heat remaining 1tbsp oil in wok/pan add vegetables and stir fry for 3 mins to soften slightly.
  • Add black bean sauce, beef and reserved meat juices back to the wok/pan. 
  • Toss all together well to combine and cook for 2 mins. 
  • Serve with cooked rice.
  • Garnish with scallions.

  • 3 tbsp cornflour

  • 2 packets Black Bean Sauce
  • 350 g long grain rice
  • 2 scallions (optional)
