Northern Ireland Farm Quality Assured beef is one of the most sustainable sources of beef in the world. Chef James travelled to Hillsborough to meet Dr Steven Morrison, Head of Livestock Production Science at AFBI to find out more.
Watch as Steven explains how NIFQA farms help balance the impact beef farming has on the environment.
Northern Ireland Farm Quality Assured beef comes from the local fields beside us, therefore reducing the carbon footprint when compared to imported beef which may have been transported further.
Our farmers use environmentally friendly farming methods, helping to protect the biodiversity of the natural landscape
The natural landscape in Northern Ireland where our beef is produced captures vast quantities of carbon from the atmosphere every year. We are lucky to be surrounded by vast quantities of grassland which is sequestering carbon all the time.
One football pitch sized piece of grassland sequesters in the same amount of carbon a car produces within a one year period.
